Savings
accounts traditionally form a huge percentage of banks clientele and with low literacy level, the product's operation can be
cumbersome.
Savings account customers are required to make physical appearance
before a transaction can be made on their accounts. This is
essentially to enable proper identification of the account owners.
Several challenges associated with manual verification (sorting
through stacks of mandate forms) or online (availability and strain
on network bandwidth) necessitates the need for urgent and more
secure, forge-proof identification process.
The Smartsave is an electronic account passbook based on either
smartcard or 2D-Barcode and AFIS technologies which allows bank
customers to carry their mandate information to the bank themselves
securely.
The solution reduces risks associated with identification, ensures
better and faster service, allows customer mobility, reduces
communication requirements, and is ideal for illiterate customers as
well as ensuring an enhanced image for the bank.
